I could literally write paragraphs about it, but I will try to limit myself to a few lines. You end up living some of the best experiences when you least expect them, and you don’t have to travel far away to have them, normally they are next to you.
Some months ago, I went camping with some friends in order to escape from our busy lives and find some time for ourselves. We had all the necessary equipment and were ready for our outdoor experience. Our aim was to climb a mountain and camp on its summit. We started walking but we stopped on a flat field to have lunch. The meadow was filled with cows and horses and you couldn’t hear anything except the sound of the birds. It was marvellous. I could feel the purity of the air, the silence, the peace nature transmitted and how different it was from the noisy city I live in. I found myself very small and just a tiny bit in the intensity of the world. It made me realize that all the hustle and bustle of the city wasn’t that important after all.
After lunch, we continued walking until we finally reached the top. As far as I can remember, it was one the most breathtaking moments of my life. I was stunned. I could literally see miles around me. The sun was setting. I sat on a rock and looked around. I didn’t even take a picture. I was dumbstruck by the majesty of nature and the sense of being transferred into a completely different world. Suddenly, all my preoccupations and thoughts vanished, I couldn’t think about anything but the landscape and the effect it was causing both in my mind and body. There is such a natural beauty around us that in our eagerness to buy and get things, we don’t even realize it is there for us to enjoy.
The sunset ended and we looked for a place to camp. We finally decided to install our tents next to a river, under some oak trees. We were so amazed and riveted by the bed of orange, red and yellow leaves that we didn’t even realize that our phones were running out of battery. We had dinner and started talking in a way that we hadn’t done for ages, and it was all thanks to the relaxing atmosphere we were surrounded by.
